Membership

Membership of the Association shall be available to:-

  1. Regional Trail Owner Forums or Associations
  2. Individual Trail Owners- and Operators
  3. Associate Members;
  4. Honorary Members; and
  5. Life members 

Associate Members - Any person or body of persons shall be eligible for election as an Associate Member of the Association, if the said person or body of persons has, in the opinion of the Association Committee, sufficient identity of interest with the Association and its objectives.

Honorary Members - Any person, proposed by the Association Committee, shall be eligible for election as an Honorary Member of the Association, if the said person is the holder of some public office or has rendered some special benefit or service to the Association.

Life Members - Any person, proposed by the Association Committee, shall be eligible for election as a Life Member of the Association, if the said person is the holder of some public office or has rendered some special benefit or service to the Association.

Applications for membership - shall be submitted in writing to the Secretary and each application shall be accompanied by a completed membership application form for each individual member or members of the representative forum or association. Each application so received shall be submitted to the Association Committee for consideration and decision as soon as is practical. 

Termination of Membership - Any Member intending to resign its membership of the Association, shall notify such intention by letter to the Secretary not less than thirty (30) days prior to the date on which its next subscription becomes due, otherwise it shall be liable for the payment of its subscription of the ensuing period.

Voting

  1. Each Member shall have the right to vote at general meetings of the Association.  Each Regional representative Member shall have one (1) vote, plus an extra vote for every five (5) members in excess of ten (10) or part thereof, and that Representative Member shall be entitled to have that number of votes at meetings of the Association.
  2. Associate Members, Honorary and Life Members shall not have any right to vote at general meetings of the Association nor shall they be eligible for office bearers of the Committee.  They shall be entitled, however, to take part in all discussions at general meetings of the Association.

Membership does not and shall not give to any member any right, title, interest, claim or demand in or to any of the money, property or assets of the Association, but shall bestow upon such member only the right and privilege of participating in the activities of the Association, subject to such reasonable restrictions as the Association Committee may from time to time impose.

In the event of the Association being wound up, no liability shall be incurred by any Member other than in respect of unpaid subscriptions and any money it may owe to the Association.

Subscription and Accounts

  1. The annual subscription rates shall be set from time to time by the Association Committee. 
  2. No subscriptions shall be payable by Honorary and Life Members
  3. New confirmed Members between 1 July and 31 December in any year shall pay one half of the annual subscription for that year.
  4. Should any Member fail to pay its subscription within two months from the due date thereof, and should the subscription not be paid within one month of the Secretary's letter calling for payment of the subscription, that member shall thereupon cease to be a member. 
  5. The financial year of the Association shall end on 31 December in each year.
  6. The Association Committee shall cause true accounts to be kept of the monies received and expended by the Association and of the matters in respect of which such receipts and expenditures take place and of the assets, credits and balances of the Association.
  7. Such accounts shall be checked and vouched for by the Honorary Auditors.  A copy of the certified balance sheet and statement of income and expenditure shall be submitted at the Annual General Meeting, together with a report by the Honorary Auditors.
